Sister Safiya Wali Patel, an elderly woman suffering from cerebral palsy, is going through extreme hardship. She is fully dependent on her poor brother, with whom she lives. Her brother works as a tempo driver, and his wife works as a house maid—yet their income is barely enough to survive.

Along with caring for Safiya, her brother also has to manage her daily medications, his children’s school fees, and their house rent. Despite all his efforts, he is unable to afford the additional medical needs Safiya requires.

Due to her condition, Safiya has been lying on the floor for a long time. This has now caused painful decubitus (bed) ulcers, putting her health at serious risk. Doctors have urgently recommended a special medical bed and an orthopedic mattress to prevent further complications and to give her some much-needed comfort and dignity.

But the family cannot afford these essential items.
