IndiaZakat.com Policy & Process Document
IndiaZakat.com is an initiative by the Association of Muslim Professionals (AMP) aimed at bridging the gap between Zakat donors and eligible recipients. It serves as India's first dedicated Zakat-based crowdfunding platform.
The platform follows Islamic rules and Indian laws to ensure honesty, proper use of funds, and real impact. IndiaZakat carefully collects, checks, and gives funds to make sure they are used
correctly and help improve lives.
1. Registration: A user signs up and verifies their account via email.
2. Cause Creation: A 'Raise a Cause' form must be filled with relevant information, documents, and purpose.
3. Verification: Causes are carefully checked through documents, background verification, and sometimes a physical visit.
4. Approval: Upon successful verification, the cause is made LIVE for public donations.
5. Promotion: The platform guides promoting the cause via social media or personal networks.
A Cause Manager (CM) is assigned to each case to make sure it is genuine. The CM checks the documents, confirms the person’s eligibility, and takes help from internal or field teams if needed.
Usually, documents like ID proof, income certificate, fee receipt (for education), medical reports (for health), and vendor bills (for livelihood) are needed.
If any information is false or incomplete, the cause is rejected and the user may be blacklisted. Once verified, the cause is sent to the content team and then approved for fundraising.
.
When the fundraising target is reached or the campaign ends, the cause raiser must enter the recipient’s bank details on the dashboard.
The finance team checks if the account type matches the cause (like school, hospital, vendor, or direct).
If the full amount isn’t raised, the collected amount is still given after the same checks. Giving money directly to the beneficiary is rare and needs approval.
IndiaZakat uses a ‘6-eyes verification process’ where three people check each cause — a finance executive, an operations executive, and an operations manager.
Only causes with complete documents and proper checks are sent to the AMP President and Finance Secretary for final approval.
Office staff cannot make any payments. Only selected directors can release the funds, which ensures full financial safety.
Daily reconciliation logs are maintained in the IZC Dashboard for every bank transaction. Each entry is mapped to a Cause ID.
Monthly reconciliation with RazorPay ensures transparency of payment gateway transactions.
If the donation purpose is unclear, IndiaZakat contacts donors directly to clarify and allocate funds. In rare cases, such unlinked donations are transferred to the 'Support IZC' fund.
Refunds are only issued in cases of fraud or canceled causes before any disbursement. Donors are contacted and offered a refund or redirection to another cause.
If funds are not claimed within 90 days, even after trying to contact the person, the money is given to similar causes in the next quarter.
Refunds, where applicable, are credited back to the original payment method within 12–15 working days.
If a cause receives more funds than required, the extra amount may be redirected to administrative needs or similar causes as per IndiaZakat policy.
Large donations should ideally be made via direct bank transfers to avoid payment gateway charges of 2%.
Direct transfers are verified and reflected in the system within 1–2 working days.
After payout, beneficiaries are requested to provide feedback in the form of thank-you letters, videos, or payment receipts.
Cause Managers collect and document these testimonials as part of audit and transparency practices. Success stories may be promoted on social media or the platform website.
The dashboard records and manages cause details, donor data, category-wise statistics, and fund disbursements. It is backed up daily.
Audits are performed annually, and reports are shared publicly. The audit includes donation receipts, disbursements, and reconciliation data.
The platform ensures no charges are deducted from bank transfer donations. However, a 1.5-2.5% fee applies for RazorPay transactions.
IndiaZakat uses secure, compliant payment gateways with 256-bit encryption. Donors can confidently support causes using net banking, UPI, or cards.
80G tax receipts are provided to donors submitting PAN/Aadhar details as required by law.
Only Indian nationals and NRIs (using Indian bank accounts) are allowed to donate. No foreign donations via non-Indian cards/accounts are accepted.
